Tax-exempt status is a significant public benefit that carries with it an obligation to demonstrate accountability to taxpayers and the communities these institutions are intended to serve. Americans deserve confidence that nonprofit hospitals are using their tax-advantaged status to provide meaningful community benefits rather than simply operating as large healthcare systems with limited public oversight. Your legislation strengthens transparency by expanding the information nonprofit hospitals must disclose on Schedule H of their annual IRS Form 990. Improved reporting will provide lawmakers and the public with a clearer understanding of how these institutions fulfill their charitable missions and justify the substantial tax benefits they receive. Greater transparency is a fundamental principle of good governance. It promotes fiscal responsibility, helps deter waste and abuse, and gives policymakers the information necessary to evaluate whether tax-exempt hospitals are operating in a manner consistent with the purpose for which Congress granted their nonprofit status. It also empowers patients and local communities with greater visibility into the charitable activities of hospitals that receive significant public benefits. Financial fraud is a growing threat to Americans, particularly older adults who are disproportionately targeted by sophisticated scams, investment fraud, identity theft, and other financial crimes. Many seniors spend a lifetime building their savings, only to see those hard-earned assets stolen through schemes that often take months or even years to uncover. Victims of fraud often suffer devastating financial losses through no fault of their own. Unfortunately, current tax law can prevent these individuals from claiming a theft loss deduction, particularly when this fraud is not discovered until after the statute of limitations for claiming a refund has expired. Your legislation provides a solution by restoring the pre-2018 theft loss deduction rules and allowing taxpayers to file an amended return for the year in which the related income was reported, even if fraud is discovered after the normal refund deadline. This ensures that victims are not unfairly penalized simply because sophisticated fraud schemes often take years to uncover. AMAC Action appreciates the bipartisan efforts for this important legislation. Taxpayers who have been victimized by fraud deserve a fair opportunity to recover a portion of their losses. AMAC Action applauds the Committee on Ways and Means for advancing HR 8883 as part of its broader effort to combat fraud, strengthen oversight, and protect America’s seniors from abuse within federal healthcare programs. Fraudulent actors who exploit Medicare and other taxpayer-funded programs waste billions of taxpayer dollars and jeopardize the integrity of care relied upon by seniors. Your legislation cracks down on fraud within hospice programs and home health agencies by strengthening enrollment screening requirements, increasing oversight of high-risk providers, and improving accountability throughout the Medicare system. AMAC Action Joins Pro-Life Amicus Brief amac.us/newsline/polit… June 11, 2026 AMAC Patriots, AMAC supports the preservation and sanctity of life, granted by God to all humans born, and preborn. The right to life is not only a natural right, but it has been codified in our Declaration of Independence, the 14th Amendment to our U.S. Constitution, and by extension, laws against murder in all 50 states. In the spirit of life, AMAC Action has joined in a letter to the Supreme Court, an Amicus Brief, submitted by Advancing American Freedom and 48 other concerned people and organizations, to support the right to life as well as state sovereignty in the cases of Danco Laboratories v. State of Louisiana and Genbiopro v. State of Louisiana. The good people of the State of Louisiana “outlawed abortion in most circumstances,” but a young mother to be was coerced by her boyfriend into taking mifepristone, a dangerous abortion drug, which he obtained by mail order from an abortionist in California; in violation of Louisiana state law. Not only did this drug cause an abortion, but it caused this young woman to suffer both physical injury and lasting mental harm. This injury was made possible by a policy of the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that allowed this abortion drug to be issued, without an in-person appointment, and then delivered by mail. This circumvents the sovereign choice of the State of Louisiana to prevent abortion. AMAC Action has joined this Amicus to urge the Supreme Court to support the sanctity of life under the 14th Amendment and preserve state sovereignty under the 10th Amendment.
