Some welcome relief for breeders with @HarnessAUS confirming significant reductions to stallion registration fees ahead of the 2026/27 breeding season. Under the revised structure, the existing registration framework will remain, but the fee rates will be reduced to: 10% for stallions domiciled outside Australia and New Zealand (frozen semen) 5% for New Zealand-based stallions and shuttle stallions standing in either Australia or New Zealand; and Zero fee for Australian-domiciled stallions, with no change to the current arrangements. The annual registration fee for all pacing and trotting stallions will remain at $600 for the 2026/27 season. However, HRA has increased its component of horse naming fees from $50 to $100 per application. HARNESS WHISPERS- Reports are gathering momentum that this year's New Zealand Trotting Cup could be run for reduced prizemoney, with industry speculation suggesting a cut may be on the cards. Inter Dominion champion Captains Mistress is on target for the Victoria Cup at Melton. While the New Zealand Trotting Cup appears unlikely to feature on her itinerary, a trip across the Tasman for the Kaikoura Cup remains a strong possibility. Royally bred three-year-old Brother Mountain claimed the Square Trotters Association Trotters of the Future at Globe Derby. The promising gelding is by Elitloppet winner Propulsion and out of NSW Oaks winner Mystic Hush.
