It never ceases to amaze me the way so many people casually use Tourette Syndrome as a descriptor, punchline, or joke. They would never use other chronic disabilities in that way. We must band together and demand the respect we deserve. Visit tourette.org to join us.
In the past few weeks, there have been multiple statements utilizing Tourette Syndrome as a reference to someone not having a filter or cussing. In addition to being hurtful and highly offensive to those living with TS or Tic Disorders, these statements perpetuate stigma. (1/6)
