Normal vision vs Diabetic Retinopathy #DiabeticRetinopathy is a condition caused from diabetes. Damage occurs to blood vessels in the eyes that deal with light sensitivity. Symptoms include floaters, blurriness, dark areas of vision, and difficulty perceiving colors. #MyVI

Did you know it's illegal for ride share drivers to deny service to passengers with guide dogs. However, unfortunately rideshare drivers frequently deny service to those with guide dogs. If this ever happens to you make sure to report it in the app to help prevent future denials.

Did you know Japanese inventor Seiichi Miyake is credited with developing tactile paving. In 1965, Miyake thought of tactile paving as a way to help a friend who was visually impaired with navigating public spaces, train stations, and stairs. #Blind #WhiteCane #TactilePaving

Did you know #WhiteCanes are white because of George A. Bonham. Bonham, watched a man who was blind attempting to cross a street with a black cane and motorists couldn’t see it. Bonham proposed painting the cane white with a red stripe to make it more noticeable. #Blindness

THIS IS A MYTH. Dog guides are trained to respond to the owners commands. The person who is visually impaired, before using a dog guide, goes through a lot training on how to use the dog. It is the owner who knows where they are going, not the dog (Wisconsin DHS). #CareerRunway
