@GOPLeader @SenSchumer @SpeakerPelosi @senatemajldr HCBS funding is desperately needed to ensure we can stay safe in our own homes. The House included funding for HCBS in the HEROES Act, but the Senate did not include it in the HEALS Act.
@GOPLeader @SenSchumer @SpeakerPelosi @senatemajldr Many disabled people rely on HCBS to live in their own homes, but people are struggling to stay in the community. Without more funding, many more people will be forced into congregate settings. (Part 3)
@GOPLeader @SenSchumer @SpeakerPelosi @senatemajldr The need for dedicated HCBS funding is more urgent than ever. We have seen rampant rates of infection and death in nursing facilities and other congregate settings. (Part 2)

@SenSchumer @senatemajldr ACAP continues to seek ways to serve members who choose to stay safer and home and those who are isolated and unsupported. For all these strategic efforts, ACAP needs your assistance. (Part 9)
@SenSchumer @senatemajldr Despite being among the first to move to virtual programming, the current hourly rates for virtual and onsite classes are not sustainable and compromise ACAP’s longevity. However, we are putting safety first. (Part 8)
@SenSchumer @senatemajldr Currently only about half of ACAP members have returned to its programming for reasons that vary from concerns over COVID-19, to lack of technology, to simply isolation and withdrawal. All of this has significantly impacted ACAP’s revenue. (Part 7)
@SenSchumer @senatemajldr Now, they have returned to limited onsite services and have plans to slowly and safely build back towards their traditional community-based model of services. (Part 6)
@SenSchumer @senatemajldr Its staff never stopped caring for and serving its members, even when it shut down in March. Virtual classes were initiated within three weeks of the shutdown to ensure member mental health safety. (Part 5)
@SenSchumer @senatemajldr We want financial support to go to the people and organizations who assist us so that they can continue offering care and life-enhancing opportunities. (ACAP) has been at the forefront of continued care for its membership, including ourselves. (Part 4)
@SenSchumer @senatemajldr We are encouraging our legislators to support the Heroes Act to ensure our safety and wellbeing as we work towards our goals in new ways. We see that the coronavirus pandemic has had a serious and ongoing impact on our ability to flourish. (Part 3)
@SenSchumer @senatemajldr Valued and contributing members. We need a variety of services such as: transportation, paid and non-paid support visits, organizing schedules, nurse visits, help with meals, and various other assistance. (Part 2)
@SenSchumer @senatemajldr Senate is drafting the next COVID-19 relief (HEROES Act), and additional funding is needed for home and community based services. As members of our community and specifically the disability community, we rely on various supports to remain (Part 1)
