Heads up! Starting Wednesday, August 12, Apex Landscaping Inc will be re-landscaping eight medians along Lake St between Rt. 53 and Ellsworth Ave, and for the median north of Lake St on Wood Dale Rd. Apex plans on working median by median along Lake St, starting as early as Wednesday of this week. Traffic control will be in place during working hours. This project is expected to last approximately two weeks, completely weather permitting. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Mayor Tom Hundley, along with State Representative Diane Blair-Sherlock, Village Clerk Lucille Zucchero Addison Police Chief Roy Selvik, and Deputy Chief Jose Gonzalez had a blast joining the community at National Night Out! Thank you to the Addison Police Department for hosting such a memorable evening, including food, music by 7th Heaven, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, and even a donut-eating contest between Addison Police and Fire! National Night Out is celebrated on the first Tuesday of every August, and is a community-building campaign meant to build positive bonds between neighbors and local law enforcement.

Mayor Tom Hundley was honored to attend the Henry Hyde end of summer BBQ today! The rain stayed away long enough for the Addison Police Department to grill up some delicious burgers and hot dogs. It was great to see everyone laughing, playing games, and making memories. It’s amazing how many of the staff volunteers grew up with Henry Hyde and are now giving back! Big thanks to everyone who helps make these memorable events happen!

A good time was had, from a crazy donut eating contest to adorable animals at the petting zoo, cool trucks to explore, and a full concert by 7th heaven! National Night Out is celebrated on the first Tuesday of every August, and is a community-building campaign meant to build positive bonds between neighbors and local law enforcement. Happy International Day of Friendship from Addison—the Village of Friendship! That nickname goes all the way back to the 1960s, when it first appeared on our vehicle stickers. Shortly thereafter, the nickname was incorporated into the new shield logo design for the Village, with stars and stripes. The logo was proudly displayed outside Village Hall for many years, and can now be seen at the Addison Historical Museum. You may have noticed that Village Hall is located at 1 Friendship Plaza, but did you know that Friendship Plaza was named by an Addison community member who brought the idea to former Mayor Hartwig in the late 90's? Addison has plenty of more history, from new businesses coming to town, the building of Louis Reservoir (formerly Louis' Restaurant), moving the historic Balzer house and Century house up Lake St., Adventureland, and much more! Storm update Following yesterday's (July 27) severe thunderstorms, the Village of Addison is responding to reports of downed tree limbs and storm-related debris throughout the community. Public Works crews are moving through the community to clear roadways and address safety concerns first, then moving on to clearing debris. Downed branches that can be safely moved should be placed on the parkway for pickup. The Village is also meeting frequently with ComED to address the area-wide power outages. The last update was that 300,000 homes in our region are still without power. Things for residents to keep in mind as cleanup continues: - For downed power lines, stay away and call 911. - Any tree damage to parkway trees should be submitted to Public Works by calling the main office (630-620-2020) or through the Addison Connected portal (webrai.mycivicapps.com/villageofaddis… Any limbs hanging over the roads should be immediately reported via a phone call to Public Works. - Branch pickup starts Monday, August 3. Residents should put the branches from their private trees on the parkway. Tree removals or branches cut by contractors will not be accepted by the branch pickup contractor. - Report power outages to ComED at ComED.com/Report or text OUT to 26633 or call 1-800-334-7661. - Travel with caution and avoid driving through standing water. If traffic signals are out, treat the intersection as a four-way stop. Thank you for your patience as crews work throughout the community.
