There is only really one question that matters, and that is Trump’s loyalty to Vance. Vance will find out in November if he was merely being used. The only theory that makes sense to explain Trump’s tacit acceptance of Vance allying himself with all his enemies and constantly countersignaling is that he views it as useful. He sees Vance as doing the needed outreach to keep his “MAGA coalition” as broad as possible ahead of the midterms. Vance may or may not be in on this scheme. Probably not, for a few reasons, especially in light of the way his allies started putting Miriam Adelson, a close friend and benefactor of Trump, at the heart of a kooky conspiracy theory this week. The sad truth is that Vance really isn’t playing; he is a true believer, and in worse things than anyone probably realizes. Also recall how Trump lumbered Vance with the intended-to-fail MOU. The goal was to suppress oil prices for a few months as the Navy secretly demined Hormuz to shape the battlefield for further operations, so Vance was thrown to the fishes. That’s not what you do to your heir. And then imagine you are transactional Trump: what does a future President Vance offer you? No money, weird cranky fans, and plans to install all your enemies as advisors. Trump will push a Republican candidate over whom he will have leverage, not one over whom Tucker Carlson has leverage. Most likely, once the midterms are over and the MAGA coalition is moot forever, Trump will assert dominance over Vance. But Vance still has one solid path to the presidency, so people who love the American Constitution, even if you hate Trump, should pray for Trump’s good health.

PCPSR polls (Palestinian-run) found majorities—57% in Gaza (late 2023) and 82% in the West Bank—calling Hamas’s October 7 attack “correct.” That attack was a deliberate massacre of Jewish civilians. Accurately describing popular support for it as hateful, genocidal in intent, bigoted and evil is not itself hateful conduct.

Thank you for the explanation. I assume the municipality calls itself Londonderry. When I look at a map, it says Londonderry. If I’m not mistaken, the Irish complained that Brexit would undermine the Peace Accords by setting up an EU border. That suggests the peace is final and done with and every international map calls the city Londonderry.

@FionaSmall @RachelMoiselle Great Britain is just the largest of the islands; they are known collectively as the British Isles. It’s geographical term, not politics. AI tells me the Republic of Ireland prefers “these Islands,” which sounds like they know it’s just a geographical term.
