🚨 GATE.IO BEN INCIDENT: 5 DAYS LATER — WHERE IS THE OFFICIAL INCIDENT REPORT AND COMPENSATION PLAN? On September 30, 2026, a major controversy erupted over the BENUSDT futures dividend settlement on Gate.io, a global cryptocurrency exchange. Gate.io had announced the BEN dividend in advance. However, the subsequent settlement process resulted in unexpected changes to account balances, profit and loss calculations, and forced liquidations affecting multiple users. According to reports, approximately 200 accounts were affected. The situation raises additional concerns for users with cross-margin positions, where settlement-related changes could also trigger liquidations in other futures contracts unrelated to BENUSDT. Following the incident, Gate.io representatives referred to an asset-naming error and indicated that the exchange would assume responsibility for user losses. Yet, five days later, several critical questions remain publicly unanswered. 1. WHERE IS THE OFFICIAL INCIDENT REPORT? Gate.io announced the BEN dividend before the settlement. What exactly went wrong during the settlement process? How did the actual results differ from the previously announced terms? A detailed explanation supported by verifiable records is necessary. 2. WHAT HAPPENS TO FORCED LIQUIDATIONS? Will positions liquidated during the incident be restored? How will Gate.io address cascading liquidations affecting other futures contracts through cross-margin accounts? Clear restoration and compensation standards have not been publicly established. 3. HOW WILL SETTLEMENT PROFITS BE TREATED? Users relied on the exchange's published information and settlement system. If Gate.io subsequently claims that certain settlement results were erroneous, what contractual provisions, technical evidence, and calculation methods support that determination? The exchange should clearly explain how affected account balances and settlement profits will be handled. 4. WHERE IS THE COMPENSATION PROGRESS REPORT? Although Gate.io representatives indicated that the exchange would cover user losses, there is still no publicly verifiable, comprehensive breakdown of: Compensation eligibility Loss calculation methodology Payment timelines Number of affected accounts compensated Outstanding claims and unresolved disputes 5. WHAT IS THE EXTENT OF GATE.IO'S RESPONSIBILITY? This incident raises fundamental questions about the reliability of advance announcements, settlement integrity, cross-margin liquidation mechanisms, and user asset protection. If an exchange seeks to revise settlement results or demand the return of credited profits, the contractual basis and procedures for those actions deserve transparent scrutiny. An exchange claiming that an error occurred does not, by itself, establish that users have a legal or contractual obligation to return settlement proceeds. These are separate issues requiring proper examination. Users make trading decisions based on the information and systems provided by the exchange. When those systems produce disputed results and forced liquidations, general assurances are not enough. Gate.io should publish a comprehensive official incident report, explain its settlement and recovery policies, and provide transparent updates on liquidation-related compensation. Until these questions are addressed, serious concerns about accountability, transparency, and user protection remain unresolved. #Gateio #BENUSDT #Crypto #Liquidation #CryptoExchange #InvestorProtection
