After 11 years as a sports columnist at the Seattle Times, I have decided to resign. It was entirely my choice, and it was not an easy one. The impetus was the Times declining to run a column I wrote from the perspective of two female student athletes who were opposed to competing against biological males. It was one of several pieces of mine that had been spiked, and I no longer felt like I could properly do my job as a columnist. I lay out the situation in greater detail in the link below, but I want to say that I enjoyed my time with the paper, find the talent there to be immense, and have no animosity toward anyone who works there. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released a report claiming that hospitals and health systems used fraudulent insurance coding to bill for gender-transition procedures on minors.‼️ The report reviewed nationwide claims data from 2015 to 2025 across more than 225 hospital programs and found about $50 million in puberty blocker claims billed under a vague "endocrine disorder" code and nearly $11 million in teen claims billed using a code meant for early-onset puberty in young children. The findings have been advanced to the Department of Justice for possible violations of federal law. Do No Harm’s Dr. Kurt Miceli says the report confirms what’s been a long time coming: 👇 “For years, activist physicians have funneled vulnerable children into a pipeline of irreversible sex-rejecting procedures — padding their pockets as they go. They spurned scientific evidence, threw safeguards out the window, and in some instances appear to have engaged in fraudulent diagnosis coding to get paid. As we warned only a few months ago, gender ideologues may be able to skirt official coding guidelines to avoid proper reporting and scrutiny and to enable potentially fraudulent billing practices. HHS's crackdown on these tactics will help protect vulnerable children, hold bad actors accountable, and restore integrity to healthcare.” Find the official release in the comments.

A Modest Proposal for the Final Retirement of the Baby Boomer Generation, and For Rendering Them Beneficial to the Public It is a melancholy object to any person who walks through this great nation and observes the streets, the golf courses, the cruise ship gangways, thronged with the elderly, complaining bitterly of the price of eggs while occupying five bedrooms built for a family of six, when they themselves number two. I have long weighed this problem, as any patriot must, and I think it universally agreed that this generation — having sold the nation’s factories, mortgaged its grandchildren’s future for a tax cut, and left the rest of us a planet wrapped in the very plastic they invented to keep their casseroles fresh — has become, by any actuarial measure, a Drain rather than a Contributor. I shall therefore humbly propose my own thoughts, which I hope will not be liable to the least objection. I have calculated that a Boomer, properly harvested at the peak of their Social Security draw, yields considerably more value to the Treasury than one permitted to survive to ninety-four while remortgaging the same house for a fourth kitchen renovation. A single generation, numbering some seventy million souls, drawing an average of $23,000 per year for a projected twenty additional years, represents a fiscal liability so staggering that I am astonished no Congressman has yet proposed converting them into an export commodity, as they have already exported nearly everything else of value.
