@RHouseResearch To be clear I don’t know the specifics of the fluidstack situation but I will say this isn’t anything out of the ordinary. Potentially doing this is a marketing blitz to pull the next round together
curious what drives the cost here? is it that you have to post train on your data to prove that its good? more generally i can see why its difficult to fund your first contracts but presumably after raising some seed funding you should be able to finance with previous contract profits and debt?
@JaredSleeper Plus there are also all the standard tasks that should be able to occupy more clever models like drug development, hardware R&D etc. etc.
Possibly true. I still do think that there are lots of tasks the models are quite dumb at. Computer use being the big one!. Would happily pay a lot more for a model that is competent at this, and I think this expands the no. of tasks the model can do without having to build lots of task specific harnesses
@MikeFritzell@david_perell@grok There's a great bit in the world for sale where they suggest that one of the reason commodity traders are based in switzerland was that you could tax deduct bribes you made to foreign govts. unfortunately those glory days are gone...
@davidlee@firstadopter agree generally on multimodality being the prize they are going after. But i think to say that's their only strategy is to ignore the windsurf acquisition. They tried and failed on code!
@davidlee@firstadopter I feel like this isn't true. Its shocking to me how bad gemini is at google sheets or managing my gmail inbox right now. You probably don't need a frontier model for these tasks but you'd expect that google would be the best here!
@lucasjamesirwin why is this issue not solved by corporation taxes on the labs themselves? i get that its not one-to-one but it seems easily solvable without creating labour market distortions with a token tax. seems more like a policy for unemployment that to solve lost income tax revs...
I've always thought stoppage time was a stupid system. The refs are never consistent. They should just do it like the americans do and pause the clocks when the ball is not in play
A year ago, we had product–market fit. Today we have something harder to build: a GTM machine.
This was the biggest quarter in Oneleet's history. It wasn't one whale, and it wasn't luck. It was the unglamorous work we started right after Series A:
- Hired AEs and built them a playbook
- Turned on paid acquisition for the first time and measured it scientifically
- Built GTM engineering so growth doesn't depend on me.
None of that existed a year ago. Every month since has been bigger than the last.
We've been hitting 7-figures in ARR added each month as a result.
And here's what I want people to understand about this category: compliance gets you in the door, but security is the product. Anyone can automate a checklist. We put a real security team behind it, because a SOC 2 that doesn't actually make you safer is just paperwork with a badge on it.
The market is waking up to that difference. We're not slowing down.
