The tourney is a real judgement from the divine powers at the micro and macro level. Society chose to protect the whims of the corrupt and immoral instead of prioritizing the rights of the innocent. Individual morality can delay societal consequences but there is always a price.

AKOTSK : 'In the name of the mother' hits so hard because it depicts fair judgement. Dunk is rewarded for what good he did over his life : Being earnest and trying hard ,being good to innocent creatures like Egg, etc. Egg's screams bring him back to life just in time.

In 'The Dark Knight Rises' , stuck in the pit , Bruce must accept that he can make sacrifices for his goal , but he cannot control the outcome. Climbing with the rope is trying to force an outcome , climbing without the rope is acceptance of his own limitations as a human.

Looking back, we assume we see the forks in the road that would have led to a better present if chosen. No one can know for sure what a different choice would have led to , or even that it existed then. The only fork in the road that matters is the one in front of you right now.

At the worst of times , be grateful it's not worse. You can always imagine it being worse so be grateful it's not worse. This way , your brain will break out of the negative spiral and immediately start looking for more things to be grateful about. This creates a positive spiral.
