Sending prayers and solidarity to President @realDonaldTrump, the First Lady @MELANIATRUMP, and the American people following last night’s cowardly attack at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. We trust in the resilience of the United States and its institutions, and we remain steadfast partners in promoting peace, security, and stability worldwide. We are grateful for the bravery of the U.S. Secret Service agents who acted swiftly and heroically to protect the President and all those present. Their courage helped prevent a national tragedy. The United States remains the greatest defender of freedom and democracy. No act of violence will ever diminish that.

Today President @VjosaOsmaniPRKS ends her mandate. She gave Kosovo a respected voice and elevated its international standing. Above all, she championed her country’s cause with extraordinary skill, and enormous love for the people she served. Her heart shone through in everything she did. At a moment of acute instability in the Western Balkans, this is exactly the wrong time to lose a leader of her calibre. Kosovo needs the resolve and bridge-building she demonstrated. For years, this issue has circulated through analyses and reports, but it has rarely been stated clearly . The Telegraph does so openly: Serbian nationalists are fighting in Ukraine alongside Russia, driven by propaganda, hostility toward the West, and the belief that supporting Moscow will one day be “repaid” in Kosovo. This is not just a story from the Ukrainian battlefield. It has a direct connection to the Balkans. Recruitment happens openly through Telegram, TikTok, and other platforms, where Russia is portrayed as a protector, NATO as an enemy, and violence is romanticized. Veterans of the wars of the 1990s appear as authority figures for newly radicalized youth. Ideology and material incentives move in parallel. This phenomenon does not exist in isolation. Symbols associated with the Wagner mercenary group have also been observed in northern Kosovo, particularly during periods of heightened tension between 2022 and 2024. In 2022, a Wagner-linked center was opened in Serbia, officially presented as cultural and humanitarian. Although it was later closed under international pressure, the message was clear and recruitment continued: Serbia was seen as fertile ground for influence operations, propaganda, and radicalization networks with the permission of government and intelligence. Added to this context is the Russian center in Nis, officially labeled as humanitarian, but viewed for years by Western governments as a potential Russian intelligence asset. The core problem is not only that these individuals go to war. The real problem is their return. The Balkans know well the cost of ignoring such warning signs. Ukraine is today’s front. Albanians in Presheva, Bujanoc & Medvegjë face SYSTEMATIC and DELIBERATE human rights violations such as address passivation to erase them from civil registries, loss of IDs, voting and health rights, non recognition of diplomas, hate speech and exclusion from state institutions. 🚨This is state driven ETHNIC DISCRIMINATION. We all witness everyday how Serbia's politicians play the “victimcard", claiming Serbs rights are violated in Kosovo, while in reality Serbs in Kosovo enjoy more rights than the Albanian majority, including long tolerated privileges such as decades of unpaid municipal obligations.
