I've been working with them to create audiobooks for the past couple of months, and I've already completed Martin Luther's On the Jews and Their Lies, as well as The Silent Jihad by @calvinrobinson (with an afterword by @JoelWebbon), along with a title I created, White Boy Summer: The Audiobook Volume 1. Very soon I'll be delivering another audiobook I pitched to them: The Wrath of the Awakened Saxon: The Based Poetry of Rudyard Kipling. Great stuff happening with Based Audio Books lately, though I've been traveling for work and busy starting a new podcast, and thus have not been very active here on X this summer. But one great thing I haven't yet mentioned is that I have been doing voiceover/audiobook work for @dalepartridge and his wonderful @relearn_app: "The Ultimate App of Theological Audiobooks & eBooks for the Family." I’m not the only one who has been warning about this kind of lawfare being deployed in the PCA, but these recent cases are exactly what many of us have been talking about. Consider two examples: Burke Parsons and @ZacharyGarris. I would be surprised if either suspension ultimately stands if appealed all the way through the process. But that is exactly the problem. The process is long. In the meantime, these men are suspended from office. They are sidelined from pastoral ministry. Their churches are disrupted. Their people are left without their shepherd. Even if the suspension is eventually overturned, the process itself becomes the punishment. That creates a dangerous incentive structure. Men can use the courts of the church to temporarily remove pastors over charges they likely know will not hold up under final review. The accusations are often tied to elastic applications of ninth commandment violations, claims of “harshness,” or other highly subjective standards. Take Garris. He was suspended for poking fun at Dr. Anthony Bradley by saying there are some things so complex that even a PhD cannot understand them. Frankly, that is funny. Dr. Bradley regularly invokes his credentials in ways that invite that kind of jab. To have a church lose its pastor, even temporarily, over something like that is absurd. This kind of judicial maneuvering does real damage. It chills ordinary pastoral speech. It rewards strategic accusations. It destabilizes local churches. And it sends a clear message to younger men: enter this denomination, and you may find yourself sidelined for months over charges that will eventually be overturned. If the older conservatives in the PCA do not step up and use their authority to stop this sort of procedural abuse, younger men are going to ask a very reasonable question: Why would I come into, or remain in, a denomination where the process itself can be weaponized against faithful pastors? This is not mainly about whether these particular men win on appeal. It is about whether constitutional process in the PCA will be used to secure justice or to exercise ideological control by other means. #SavethePCA

Gentlemen, Christ our Lord has made things abundantly clear for those with eyes to see. Over the last several years, and with violent acceleration over the last year, the denominations have made one thing plain: They are at war with godly men and with God’s created order. This week, we saw it with Dr. Garris. Last week, we saw it with Dr. Schlebusch. The bar is incredibly low: “Will this church refrain from punishing a Lutheran or Reformed man for refusing liberalism and acting like a man?” No denomination has been able to clear even that bar. The denominational machines have protected cowards, hirelings, climbers, and wolves, while serious men are left asking where they can take their wives and children on Sunday. It seems increasingly clear that we must stop treating these corrupted structures as if they are the only possible path forward. These corporations are not the Church. They do not own the Church. They do not validate the Church. They do not create, sustain, or protect the Church. It is time to put denominationalism on the shelf, starve the parasites bleeding our churches dry, and rebuild faithful Christian life outside the machines. If God wills, future generations can decide whether those machines are worth reclaiming.
