My patient needs about 450,000 -ish to keep their child alive. Boy is 5, has AKI, with his urea and creatinine climbing through the roof. His only chance at recovery is getting dialysis, but my center doesn't have the materials needed. To refer, they need to settle their current bill (200,000-ish), pay for ambulance (got a funder), and hold about 250,000 give or take for the procedure at a private hospital. They have been able to raise 140,000. The boy is unconscious with failing kidneys.

These are bullets not sand in Zamfara after 50 innocent people, not chickens were abducted by terrorists in Kaura Namoda. Another case of northern families shattered and destroyed by government failures, a government that has spent so much money on PR to suppress news like this which exposes their failures to protect our lives.

Prices in the UK just feel completely made up now. How does a weekend in England cost £700 when you can fly abroad for less? A return train to London is £160. The same house that rented for £600 is now £1,200. A full tank of fuel is over £100. Car insurance goes up 50% despite the same car, no claims and nothing changing. £100 in the supermarket somehow gets you two bags of shopping. And we're all just expected to accept this as normal? How did we get to the point where being ripped off became part of everyday life?

The UK has somehow convinced people that working full time and still being broke is completely normal. We've reached the point where having a job isn't enough anymore. You can work 40+ hours a week, do everything you're "supposed" to do, never miss a shift, and still spend the last week before payday checking your bank balance before buying a loaf of bread. Then if you dare complain, you're told to budget better, stop buying coffee or "just earn more." When did surviving become the reward for working full time? People aren't asking to be rich. They just want to pay their rent, cover their bills, buy food and maybe have something left at the end of the month without feeling guilty about it. Somehow that's now considered an unrealistic expectation.

There’s nothing left unsaid. This week alone, we’ve seen videos from across the country that expose the dysfunctionality of Nigeria as a whole. I don’t believe the almajirai seen here, or those at Pellas’ wedding, are products of any state Government’s mass wedding programme or the result of a gateman having four wives. These are symptoms of deeper, long standing systemic failures that cut across the country.
