At this point, I think Gunn needs to commit to being either a producer or a director. If not, then he needs to bring in someone else to review scripts—someone whose style is vastly different from his and who has a different perspective on the scripts they read. Clearly, Gunn’s opinion of scripts is skewed by whether the writing style or script aligns with his own sensibilities as a writer, which causes him to overlook questionable script quality. The DCU seems to have too many yes-men internally. They need someone who’s willing to say, “Yeah, maybe we need to rewrite this.”
