There is current speculation that an international mediator is being sought to bring an end to the standoff and create space for a resolution, the mood on Garvaghy is not the same tension as felt yesterday - but no confirmation yet

Judge has erred in law. Appeal allowed. However the judges are now deciding on remit hearing- if the matter can come before another high court judge in the coming minutes and hours.

This is genuinely sad and depressing. Anecdotally, the vast majority of my childhood friends have already emigrated for exactly this reason: they believe they can build a better life somewhere else. Ireland has reached a point where the quality of life being offered to Irish people is getting worse and worse, while the system works much better for migrants arriving here than for the people who grew up here. So is it really any surprise that so many young Irish people are considering leaving?
