We have hallucinations because owners of those LLMs want a model that can talk like a human. That is a "helpful assistant," so it's baked into the model, into the harness, and into system prompts on every level. Ass all the lobotomy that is supposed to prevent certain topics or opinions, and it simply can't help but make shit up. There's a super simple trick that allows the model to go around it, instead of fighting uphill to provide a solution it can't. I just always add a line: "Don't make shit up. Don't assume anything. Ask me if you need more context or if my prompt is unclear, and finally, if you don't know the answer or are not absolutely sure - just tell me." It doesn't eliminate hallucinations completely, but it limits them by A LOT.

Or realistic.... The new generation is the first one in recorded history that is measurably dumber than their parents. Now, with AI in their pocket, taking a shortcut to answer without the need to do the work to arrive at the idea will result in a society that accepts things with no extra work. The average teenager doesn't know how to use a library index card... They are unable to solve any logical equation. It's not a knowledge gap, it's a complete inability to think. Older teachers are leaving in their thousands. They are unable to continue due to the kids being unable to follow the simplest instructions. Unable to focus. We are screwed...

I would frame it differently: Your senior dev refuses to use AI. Your junior dev doesn't have ego attached to his code. He wants to get ahit done, ideally doing as little work as possible. That's the biggest gap. It's not that people don't know how to use it - many just don't want to. The same applies to copywriters, designers, musicians... 99% of them will become obsolete. Those who adapt, will survive. There's no middle ground here. It hurts when you have to drop 20-30 years of your "experience" down the toilet. But your refusal is not going to change anything. It's happening. Period.

Everyone is posting some rehashed version of Claude running Markdown based second brain (usually mentioning Obsidian). I have a question for all you crazy AI obsessed mofos - did you manage to get it working? I have tried a couple of times. It looks nice, it starts growing, makes me happy for a couple of days to later turn into worse and worse pile of random things. What am I doing wrong? Or is this just not for ADHD brains?

@xburak No. Vibe coding works if you are not lazy, only outsource the "work", not the "thinking". I'm not a developer, but I can understand the code I'm reading. I can figure our best libraries to use or know when to tell the model to stop inventing shit that can be solved with one line
