I want to open up about my mental health. But before I do, I ask that you not feel sorry for me. This isn’t a cry out for help, but transparency. We were placed in this world to be here for each other and I feel it’s important with the platform I have, to be of assistance to those who need it. Mental health was never in my vocabulary until November 17th, 2021. The Tommy Norman I knew before that day is gone. Life as I knew it changed dramatically when my daughter Alyssa passed away. I’ve been lost ever since. I never knew what it was like to be depressed, to feel hopeless. It’s truly a pain I can’t label. There are no words to describe how on some days, my soul is gone. In my mind, if I’m sad I can’t make the world happy, and I was born to make the world happy. Some days are better than others. Some days I push with everything in me because I don’t want to lose. I know my worth and I know my value to my community. But I’ve really struggled recently. I’ve been going through it. I do take medication for anxiety/depression, and it took a lot of pride to accept that I needed it. I cry on the inside, but my tears are still invisible. So I guess the moral of my post is to share that yes “Officer Norman” struggles with mental health issues and I’m not to proud to admit it. I want my transparency to help others. Talk to someone. A friend, family, a therapist. It’s ok to not be ok. Watching sports and listening to John Legend is good for my “mental.” I hope this post helps someone. I’m not done changing the world, so don’t think that. I love you. ❤️‍🔥
