UPDATE: @SAPoliceService INQUEST FOLLOWING THE DISCOVERY OF A FEMALE BODY IN SOWETO The police have registered an inquest docket following the discovery of a female body in a dam at Moroka, Soweto. The unidentified body was found wrapped in a duvet on 20 September 2026 at about 17:00. The victim is estimated to be in her twenties. The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this stage. The police appeal to members of the community who may have information regarding the incident or any information that can assist with investigations to contact their nearest police station or the police crime stop number 08600 10111 or alternatively use the MySAPSApp to provide tipoffs anonymously.

Statement regarding the incident at Vlamo restaurant: •Issued in a personal capacity by: Lawrence Mudzinganyama I apologise unreservedly to the women involved in the recent incident at Vlamo restaurant in Sandton. The aggressive and threatening language I used was unacceptable and unjustifiable, regardless of the circumstances that led to the disagreement. I should have exercised restraint, removed myself from the situation and sought assistance from the restaurant's management. I did not, and I accept responsibility for my words and conduct. I deeply regret the fear and distress I caused, as well as the public concern generated by the footage. I recognise the seriousness of my conduct, particularly in a country confronting unacceptable levels of violence against women. I understand the anger and alarm the incident has caused. I will cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities regarding any investigation into the incident. I am also seeking professional guidance and will undertake an appropriate conflict-management programme to help me respond to conflict and frustration more constructively. I recognise that an apology cannot erase the fear and distress caused. I must now demonstrate accountability through meaningful, sustained action and ensure that this conduct is never repeated.

And now I’m here inside the Liverpool Cathedral. I’ve never been here before and on walking in, I’m absolutely blown away by the scale of this place. It is staggeringly enormous. The ceilings are the highest I’ve ever seen. Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed the iconic red telephone boxes and Battersea Power Station, amongst other wonderful places. It wasn’t the fastest builds ever though; the foundation stone was laid in 1904 but it wasn’t completed until 1978. Still quicker than the one in Barcelona I suppose.
