🌐 We're not just facing issues of scale. It was never just about scale. Efficiency is a security issue. It's an accessibility issue. It's a #power and #environment issue. The "devil's bargains" we made in the past continue to haunt us in this technology super cycle. It's more than a technology concern. It's historical and moral as well. Fortunately, the solutions are all around us, and are much brighter than the shadows of our past decisions. In my blog I detail an interview with a Turning and Abel Award laureate, Avi Wigderson. It was a gratifying long-form watch, because it underscores, from a mathematical perspective, what we're doing on an engineering level at @BraidpointTech . The Composer compiler isn't just a technical flex. It's about efficiency, responsible compute and meeting everyday engineering challenges where they live. I have to admit, there was a portion of my career where I put a problem "on blast" with massive CPU or GPU workloads on a server farm at a hyperscaler 'public cloud' and called it a day. I might have even called it 'innovation' - and echoes of that still ring out at "AI companies" across the industry. It was an unspoken "cost of doing business" that has calcified into a truly toxic trait. But we all are finding out that those unspoken assumptions are no longer tenable. And a few years ago I arrived at a point where I simply could not continue to do that in good conscience. What I've been building since COVID lockdown isn't an ego trip.
