the big issues here are that he wants debate organizers to police who is on the public property outside by demanding no electoral actions be taken outside there. That’s public property my dude and we have a constitutional right to assemble. The event organizer can’t control that
And some are reasonable of course. It’s the very unreasonable ones like deciding how an org hosts its own debates/forums that I don’t appreciate. The candidates should defer to event organizers on how they run their debate so long as everything is reasonable
I know some folks have said these appear normal but remember folks I have worked in Bay Area politics for a decade and half that time was in SF. I’ve worked for Supervisor and Mayoral candidates as well as ran one of the larger clubs in SF and we never saw rules like these.
Scott wants debates of his choosing with his own rules which is why he only accepts debate invites if the organizers follow all these very specific rules he sets so he doesn’t have to confront the public. These are so cringe. You’re a sitting elected official.
