🚨 TAXPAYERS DESERVE BETTER! Sen. Mike Lee (@BasedMikeLee) just dropped a bombshell on the Senate floor exposing massive corruption at the U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF)… and then the Senate tabled his amendment to defund it anyway. We’re literally funding a publicly admitted fraud machine right now. This morning, the DOJ announced that USADF’s Director of Financial Management (aka the CFO), Mathieu Zahui, was charged and agreed to plead guilty to two felonies: accepting illegal gratuities (kickbacks) from a contractor and lying to federal investigators about it. He funneled over $617K through a shady Kenya-based shell company, pocketed at least $12K in cash bribes (via Zelle, no less), and rigged the system while blocking oversight. Even wilder: USADF’s own acting chairman and CEO, Pete Marocco, called the agency “trash” and begged Congress to defund it outright, citing a “corrupt culture of waste, fraud, and abuse that must come to an end.” The DOGE office (Department of Government Efficiency) backed him up, proud to have helped expose this rot after the CFO previously refused them access to records (gee, wonder why). Sen. Lee filed Amendment 4286 to strike USADF funding from the spending bill, a chance to actually end this nonsense. But Dems moved to table it (set it aside), and enough senators went along. They didn’t even have to vote “no” on defunding, just kick the can and keep the cash flowing to a known corrupt outfit. This is peak swamp: A federal agency gets caught red-handed in bribery and fraud, its own leaders call it garbage, DOGE and whistleblowers confirm the mess… and Congress votes to keep writing checks. Taxpayers deserve better, zero tolerance for this kind of abuse. Lee’s pushing his Terminate USADF Act to shut it down for good. Who’s with him? Time to drain this one dry.
