UPDATE: Nirmal Purja's GPS tracker still appears to be showing movement, according to his business partner, Mingma Gyabu Sherpa (Mingma David). Sherpa said the tracker's recorded location has continued to change since the Broad Peak avalanche, though Purja remains missing and the situation has not yet been independently confirmed.

These are the trackers of two of them, Nadhira and Nirmal Purja, when the avalanche hit the group, and their next position. Terrible.

The Secret Service should be thankful AF this morning that this event wasn’t targeted by a terrorist group because the vulnerabilities were obvious. Heads should roll. They know the threat landscape especially in wake of the Iran crisis, and nothing about this security posture suggests they are taking it seriously. This was not just the President in attendance, it was the Vice President, senior Cabinet officials including the Secretary of War, and the Director of the FBI. This goes well beyond a do better moment, this had the potential to be a national level security disaster.

I’m tired 😅 I need everyone to stop what you’re doing and read this. Tomorrow is going to be warm, it’s going to be windy, and yes, it’s going to be a high fire danger day. We’ve seen this before. I’m tired of the pattern, I’m tired of the drought, but more than anything, I’m tired of the clickbait and the fear mongering that circulates social media. Why is it that an independent meteorologist who built his own business has to be the voice of reason around here? Let me be very clear. This is not me downplaying the risk. This is me telling you that panic helps nobody. Fear helps nobody. When people panic, they make bad decisions. And right now, there are too many people being scared instead of being prepared. Social media is a powerful tool, it’s helped me build this business, but it’s also become a place where people struggle to tell the difference between what’s real and what’s exaggerated for attention. So here’s the deal for tomorrow: It’s warm. It’s windy. There is fire danger. It’s that simple. Instead of panicking, prepare. Have a plan. I’ve already made a post about it, it’s pinned at the top of my page. If you haven’t read it, go read it and take it seriously. Every place has its risks. Here, wildfire is one of ours, especially as more people move into the wildland-urban interface. We can’t control everything, and we can’t force people to make good decisions. We can’t legislate morality, but we can control how we respond. Take a breath. Slow down. Think logically. On this page, I choose education over fear, and I choose humor over panic. I’m not going to sacrifice that for clicks or attention. Ever. Because at the end of the day, I have people messaging me who are genuinely scared, and they shouldn’t be. And please stop asking me about a clickbait post you saw somewhere else. All you’re gonna do is piss me off. i’m sorry to be so blunt, but I have to draw the line somewhere. Please respect those boundaries. So let’s keep this simple. Be aware. Be smart. Be prepared. And don’t let panic make decisions for you. By the way, with the help of AI, and I don’t need a lecture from people on the use of it, I made this really awesome graphic and I have saved this template for future use. So anytime I need to push out important information, you are gonna see a template very, very similar to this and you’ll know that it came from me. We’re gonna be fine. This too shall pass. If, in the coming weeks, you move large sums of U.S. cash to the Taliban through any means, we will collect the details of those transactions and report them publicly. The American public no longer supports funding the enemy. Let the Senate process finish to finally defund the Taliban, or we will make it clear you are corrupt and deliberately circumventing the will of the people.
