Officers who fail to adhere to dept policy and protocol can be sued and criminally charged.

@GracieGripes @CalebDubinsky @PaulHirschfiel1 @FrankFigliuzzi1 1989 Supreme Court case Deshaney vs Winnebago county. police weren’t found liable because they weren’t aware of a father’s abuse of his child; and the child wasn’t in state custody. Once a PD is aware of a situation they have a duty to act.
