12 Things Your Dentist Was Trained Not to Tell You By @Unbekoming Fluoride The largest American study ever conducted on fluoride and tooth decay examined 39,207 children aged five to seventeen, using examiners trained by the National Institute of Dental Research, across fluoridated, non-fluoridated, and partially fluoridated communities. It found no significant difference in the rate of decayed, missing, or filled teeth. It was published in 1986 to 1987. It has never been refuted. It has been quietly ignored. The Journal of the American Dental Association confirmed the same finding in July 2009: children’s cavity rates are similar regardless of fluoridation status. The Newburgh-Kingston fifty-year comparison trial, the foundational fluoridation experiment, found the only significant difference between the towns was that Newburgh had approximately twice the rate of dental fluorosis (mottled, discolored, structurally weakened teeth). Western European countries that never fluoridated their water had the same decline in tooth decay over the same decades as the United States. No double-blind study of fluoridation as a cavity preventive has ever been conducted. This is the intervention dentistry calls its greatest public health achievement.

The EPA claims to want to Make America Healthy Again. It had an opportunity to do just that on the fluoride issue. In the fall of 2024, a federal district court found (after hearing extensive expert testimony) that adding fluoride to water poses an unreasonable risk of neurological harm in children, and ordered EPA to eliminate this risk. In the final days of the Biden administration, the EPA announced (as expected) its intention to appeal this landmark decision. This announcement, however, had no binding effect on Lee Zeldin and the new administration. Zeldin had complete discretion to stand down on the appeal, and to follow the court's order to protect Americans from the health risks posed by fluoridation. Zeldin, however, chose to continue with the appeal. Despite repeated pleas from the MAHA community, Zeldin and the EPA have persisted with its odious appeal. And now, based on a procedural technicality, a federal appeals court has granted Zeldin's request to vacate the district court's order. EPA has thus officially undone a historic opportunity to protect the public from a toxic chemical added to most American water supplies (and all beverages and foods made with the water). Japan study demolishes the basis for artificial fluoridation programs in the US by proving fluoride isn't essential for decay-free teeth and demolishes the basis for the whole US artificial fluoridation program - which has been exported to other countries without being fully vetted. "Japan experienced a near-continuous decline in caries among 12-year-olds over approximately 40 years, reaching a national mean DMFT [tooth decay rate] of 0.53 in 2023-well below levels historically reported in populations exposed to systemic fluoride through community water fluoridation. Since you keep citing this ambiguous statistic which says “97% of professional climatologists agree,” I think it's important that you understand its origins. So, grab a bag of popcorn, because you are about to be “wowed.” 🍿 Ready? Okay, let's roll. . . 🎲 The “97% consensus” statistic was contrived in Cook et al. (2013), published in the academic journal called Environmental Research Letters (ERL). 🔗 iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108… Of the 11,944 “climate abstracts” skimmed over that were published between 1991 and 2011, 7,930 (66.4%) of them expressed 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 on anthropogenic (man-made) global warming (or AGW). It even explicitly says this in the abstract, and I was so kind as to highlight it for your viewing pleasure. 🖊️ Okay, you with me so far? Is any of this confusing? If not, let's continue. Of the remaining 4,014 studies which endorsed one AGW position or the other, 3,896 of them endorsed AGW. For the mathematically challenged, 3,896 ÷ 4,014 = 0.9706 or ~97.1%. But, this calculation ignores the 7,930 (66.4%) climate abstracts examined which took no position on the cause(s) of global warming. This is what you call “sausage-making.” 🌭 The only time “consensus of scientists” is invoked in discussions is when the evidence alone has no leg to stand on, and there's widespread disagreement on a topic internally. It's a talking point used to discourage debate by claiming a matter has been settled. Relying on such an argument is completely divorced from the essence of the scientific method, which is free scientific inquiry.

Even Natural Fluoride is NOT Safe. It’s often said that what makes fluoridation so harmful is that they use a chemical called hydrofluorosilicic acid rather than naturally occurring fluoride. However, the fact is all fluoride is toxic, even naturally occurring fluoride. Fluoride is not a nutrient in any way. It is not like calcium or magnesium; it is much more like lead or arsenic. In some parts of Africa, China, India and other parts of the world, the underground fluoride supplies have high amounts of fluoride. This causes huge problems. The children and adults suffer from skeletal fluorosis which causes crippling bone problems. It is expensive to remove fluoride as most filters do not remove it. To remove all fluoride a reverse osmosis or distillation system is needed although in rural India they are developing some low cost filtration systems using lime. A website called India Water Portal contains a lot of really interesting information regarding the harms of excess fluoride. The images of children with deformities and adults bed-ridden is heart breaking. There are also articles about what people are doing to try and remove fluoride and even remedy skeletal fluorosis through avoidance of fluoride and a nutrient dense diet. It is true, though, that naturally occurring fluoride is generally not as toxic as the chemical fluoride added to New Zealand waters. Naturally occurring fluoride normally comes with high levels of calcium or magnesium which it binds to and makes less toxic. Also, fluoride is cumulative and even “low” levels can cause skeletal fluorosis. The first stage of skeletal fluorosis is identical to arthritis and doctors in New Zealand are not aware that patients presenting with arthritic-like symptoms may, in fact, have skeletal fluorosis. Demanding that councils add a toxic substance like fluoride purposedly to people’s water, is absolutely crazy if the Director-General of Health’s aim is to improve the health of New Zealanders. And it is cowardly and ignorant of any mayor or councillor not to stand up to this craziness and tell the Direct-General of Health that they will not take any part in poisoning the community. 🧵Fluoridation’s Ineffectiveness The largest, most recent, highest-quality scientific studies on water fluoridation’s effectiveness have shown NO significant reduction of cavities. The Cochrane Collaboration, a non-profit organization of 30,000 expert researchers and health professionals from around the world, is considered the gold standard of evaluating effectiveness of health interventions. Its latest (2024) systematic review analyzed data from the 21 highest-quality studies. It found that fluoridation increased cavity-free results in primary (baby) teeth by only 4% and in permanent teeth by only 3%. Neither result was statistically significant and include the possibility of no benefit at all. It also found no sufficient evidence that fluoridation benefitted low-income families.
