The body of a child has been located during today’s search for Parker. If the body is Parker’s, it is believed he entered a culvert in a green space on the west side of Deerfoot Trail and travelled up a pipe and into a network of tunnels on the east side of the roadway. 📍 On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, we received a tip from a member of the public who had located a shoe, believed to have belonged to Parker. Search teams recovered the other shoe at the edge of a culvert. It is believed the shoes had been washed down the pipe some time after the initial search. As a result, the pipe system was searched by specialized teams from the Calgary Fire Department and a child’s body was located. This green space area contains incredibly harsh terrain and is part of a water environment. As with any search involving water, environmental conditions can influence what can be observed and when evidence may become visible. During the past two weeks, we had conducted searches of the area for Parker, however, there was no evidence located that would suggest a more thorough search of the area was required. This is not the outcome anyone hoped for. Like so many others, we hoped Parker would be brought home safely. Our thoughts are with Parker's family, loved ones and all those affected by this devastating loss. We know people across the world have spent the past 13 days sharing Parker's information, searching for him and holding onto hope for his safe return. We extend our sincere gratitude to the thousands of community members, volunteers, partner agencies and members of the media who assisted in the search effort. For the past 12 days, Calgary has come together in an extraordinary way to help find Parker. The support shown to Parker and his family has been overwhelming. At the same time, it's been heartbreaking to see so many people struggling with his disappearance. Peoples’ hearts are full and people are hurting. From those who volunteered their time to search for Parker, to those who shared information, posted flyers and left water, Goldfish crackers and other snacks outside in the hope he might find them, we have seen the very best of our city. I have watched CPS members, partner agencies, trained search volunteers and community members dedicate themselves to one shared goal: finding Parker. In my 35 years with the Calgary Police Service, I have never seen such dedicated, extensive and sustained search efforts. The compassion, commitment and determination shown by our officers, partners and of Calgarians has been remarkable. Today, I provided an update on the next phase of our efforts. After extensive search activity, we are refocusing our efforts from the physical search. This does not mean the search for Parker stops. The search for Parker is a complex and ongoing investigative effort working alongside search operations. ℹ️ In this video, Inspector Lee Wayne of the Missing Persons Team discusses the ongoing investigative efforts since Parker was reported missing last Thursday, July 16, 2026. We have followed up exhaustively on tips, witness reports and video leads. We have examined all possibilities, including criminality. While we cannot share details that could compromise the investigation, we have no tangible evidence at this time to suggest Parker was abducted or that a criminal offence has occurred. While our officers and partners continue searching areas of interest, investigators have been conducting extensive door-to-door canvassing efforts throughout the community, speaking with residents and businesses, and collecting surveillance footage that may help establish Parker's movements. To do this, video analytics technology is used to process thousands of hours of CCTV, residential security camera and dashcam footage in a fraction of the time it would take to review manually. This allows investigators to quickly identify potential sightings and focus resources where they may be most effective. The investigation is also being informed by information from the public. Technology is playing an important role in supporting the search for Parker, and in this video, Staff Sgt. Becky Spohr, Incident Commander for the search, explains how specialized mapping software is helping search teams document, track and analyze search efforts in real time. Using GPS-enabled devices, searchers can record the areas they have searched directly from the field. That information is immediately transmitted back to the command centre, where search managers can monitor and assess the data to help inform strategic search efforts. How do search teams cover large areas while ensuring no stone is left unturned? We have also encountered unofficial posts falsely claiming to provide updates on Parker's condition or the outcome of the investigation. Some of these posts have even been designed to resemble legitimate news releases. These types of false updates can cause significant distress to the family, create confusion and stress within the community and impact investigative efforts. Our investigators carefully assess every tip and piece of information received. When inaccurate, manipulated or fabricated content gains traction online, valuable time and resources can be spent evaluating information that is not authentic. During a major investigation, those resources are critical and can impact the work being done by investigators, search teams and partner agencies. I would encourage all Calgarians to take a moment before sharing information online. Ask whether the source is credible and whether the information has been verified. Any verified information regarding Parker, including significant developments in the investigation, will be shared directly by the CPS through our official channels. If an update is not coming from CPS, we encourage the public to treat it with caution until it can be verified. Modern policing is about combining skilled investigators, experienced search personnel and community support with tools that help us process information faster and make informed decisions. In this investigation, our teams have reviewed a massive volume of CCTV, residential security camera and dashcam footage. AI-assisted technology has helped investigators identify potential sightings more quickly than would otherwise be possible, allowing resources to be focused where they may have the greatest impact. Technology is also supporting our search operations. Search managers and investigators are using specialized tools to document search efforts, track coverage, analyze information and help identify areas with the highest probability of locating a missing person. These tools draw on decades of search data and are combined with the expertise of our officers, search managers and partner agencies. While technology plays an important role, it does not replace the dedication and expertise of the people behind it. 🔎 MEDIA AVAILABILITY - MISSING CHILD - PARKER 🔍 Today, investigators released a new CCTV image of Parker that was captured on Thursday, July 16, at 12:52 p.m., in the 5000 to 6000 block of Travis Crescent N.E. We are hopeful the image will help generate new leads & assist members of the public in recognizing Parker & reporting information about his whereabouts. Since Parker was reported missing, the CPS has dedicated significant resources to locating him.
