We cannot consider #AI to be morally neutral. In reality, every technical tool embodies choices and priorities through what it measures, ignores, and optimizes, and how it classifies people and situations. Ethical discernment cannot be limited to asking whether we are using a system for good or bad purposes. It must also examine how that system is designed and what vision of the human person and society is embedded in the data and models that guide it. #MagnificaHumanitas

@ReReadingWolfe I would suggest Browning's "Fra Lippo Lippi", the Count Guido sections of Browning's The Ring and the Book, as well as Frank Bidart's "Diary of Ellen West" and "Herbert White" for interesting examples of this "despicable person but maybe sympathy?" genre.

The only people who stand to gain from this are family law attorneys. And, yes, it would be a nightmare to litigate, unless it worked exactly like divorces. And at that point, well, what's the point?

@LeahLibresco Maybe you will disagree, but I would argue that Never Let Me Go achieved the transposition to screen without flattening the POV. I don't know how they will achieve this with Klara (and I don't think you can--she's much too much an observer & not an "actor")

@mrremoraman I, myself, have a PhD in 20th & 21st Century American literature, and my Master's coursework emphasized, inter alia, 20th Century literature. And I vastly prefer Tolkien to most. Even though I dearly love Pynchon, Cather, Kesey, Woolf, etc.
