It's done, and it was historic! On Friday, we proudly stood alongside @ahfkenya, @nsdcc_kenya, @NASCOP, and the @MediaCouncilK to host the inaugural Voices of Impact: HIV & STIs Reporting Media Awards 2026, Kenya's first national journalism awards dedicated entirely to HIV and STI storytelling. This was never just an award ceremony. It was a national nudge, a reminder, as AHF Kenya Country Director Dr Samuel Kinyanjui put it, that "Kenya's HIV story still matters." Congratulations to Millicent Kubai (KBC): Overall Winner & HIV & STIs Media Champion – Kenya 2026 🏆, Nathan Ochunge (Willow Health Media): 1st Runner-Up, and to Mercy Kahenda and Rosa Agutu of The Standard, who took home Print Journalism and TV Feature/Documentary honours respectively. These journalists chose dignity over sensationalism, consent over clickbait, and truth over stigma, at a moment when new HIV infections among adolescents have spiked 34% in a single year. Words shape policy. Headlines shape public will. Stories change behaviour. We're honoured to have curated and produced an evening that didn't just celebrate journalism, it reignited a movement. From honest reflections on the youth employment challenge to the launch of the Dual Apprenticeship Programme, the forum has shown the power of collaboration in shaping practical solutions. As the conversations conclude, one thing is clear: building a responsive skills system requires continued partnership between education, industry, and policy. Dr Sidita Dibra, Advisor, Skills Development, @Swisscontact, says the first phase of PropelA generated measurable outcomes across participation, training capacity, employment, and private-sector engagement. 430 apprentices have been enrolled in the program. 102 apprentices were enrolled in 2025 alone, demonstrating growth and continued demand for the program. Graduation numbers Out of the enrolled apprentices: 146 apprentices have graduated from the program so far. Female participation Gender inclusion is an important objective of PropelA. Among the plumbing graduates, 35.2% are female. #YSDF2026
