@LegacyProgramVP What historical accuracy? I think it's a major misconception that Homer's work is based off of actual people. We don't even actually know who Homer was? Troy is a historical place and been excavated for years. But Odysseus, Helen, Paris, Achilles, Hector, is just Greek mythology

@RyanHanaWWP Also worth noting that the NTC expands to 10 team list in 28-29 where larkin will still have term left on his contract. If Larkin won't expand his list he loses the fans more than Yzerman holding firm and expecting Larkin to honor his contract.

@MNState0fHockey The wild are on year 26 of their rebuild. DNQ 10 times, lost in 1st round 11 times, lost in 2nd round 3 times, 1 conference final appearance. Literally the most mid franchise in the history of hockey. Tears will be delightful when Quinn walks in 2030.

#LGRW select JP Hurlbert 23rd overall. I ranked him 14th overall. Yzerman selects an NHLe darling here. 97 points in 68 WHL games is very good for a player drafted outside of the top 20. The NCAA will be a big test for him next year.

@jam_croissant The working class has been absorbing the purchasing power hit for a while. Now the promise of asset appreciation tomorrow from a vehicle that doesn't exist yet, means this has to happen quick as you've said. There's a potential sequencing risk if they wait. 2028 is the deadline!

@jam_croissant You nailed this! Sovereign bid under equities now becoming policy. Getting the republicans to buy that this isn't socialism is the key to keeping a coalition that accepts the pain of populist policies by giving the working people the stake in inflation driven asset appreciation.

I'd prefer someone in the Tulsky mold. Steve is a good GM but the old boys club of guys around him are mediocre at best and atrocious at worst. Draper is probably the only one on his staff that is a good executive. Maltby, Kyle MacKinnon, Boyd Gordon and Brian Flynn need to be punted into the sun. The pro scouting staff has been abysmal.

@TRBlakeWoerner I don't know if I trust him to see it fully through. But there's no one I trust more when dealing with contentious trade demands to get a decent return than Steve. See drouin and St. Louis.

Yzerman had the support from ownership to do the right thing, but chose to resign Larkin and sign a bunch of veteran slop anyways. It did nothing. No playoffs and a team that still needs to face the reality of a rebuild. Steve said it from day 1 that this was going to take longer than people want. Have to draft and develop. He chose to abandon that ideology. If he would have stuck with it, traded larkin for more young assets, the prospect of a deep playoff team would be far more likely today than now having to reset again.

@valknowsball Nahh you haven't studied Steve's entire tenure as a GM. Go look up Drouin and Marty St. Louis trades. He'll sit on this if he has to. Larkins contract length and AAV is more leverage to Yzerman than what Larkin has with the NMC.

I get why Larkin wants out but his play in March was a major reason Detroit fell off. - 11 games from Feb 28-April 7 without an even strength goal. - 9 games from March 2-April 4 without an even strength point.
