So they finally deleted Valko’s PV’s from the EN Twitter account…. We’re finally going to find out soon whether we walk away forever(they tell us he’s gone and 100% not coming back) or whether we’ll be coming back to the game…

You know what I noticed from that fsp teaser? Two of those boys have the same basic outline as 🦾 did…..and we know one of them is using his colour

I wonder if locking the anecdotes behind a mini-game (not just a log-in event or as part of an update) possibly indicates that the avg time spent in game per player rn is really low. Time spent in game is an indicator of the game’s overall health. The more players do, the more players will want. The longer the playtime, the higher the likelihood to spend. Locking the anecdotes behind a mini-game specifically makes me think that even of the ppl who are currently logging in daily, they must not be spending that much time while in the game (& we know they’re certainly not spending money). They’re prob just doing tasks, collecting rewards, then leaving. Locking the anecdotes behind the mini-game seems to me like a desperate attempt to at least temporarily increase that metric. This game is suffering in ways most ppl haven’t even considered yet. Their KPI’s must be absolute trash rn, and that’s with the antis playing normally. This game’s genuinely so unbelievably fucked if they don’t bring Valko back. #BringBackValko #ReinstateValkoNow

so anecdotes is basic lore content that so many of us having asking for and they decide to do it finally but… time locking it…? BASIC LORE CONTENT that should be easily accessible to everyone at all times is now turned into an event reward and for what reason

My final straw in this Barkcott is Chinese New Year If Infold/Papergames are stupid enough to continue not communicating with us & not give us straight answers by THEN? That’s CN’s most important celebration & would DEMOLISH Infold/Papergames “cultural reputation” #BringValkoBack

Just thinking abt how the PlayStation boycott started around the same time, but PS already released several statements doubling down on their (stupid & shitty) decision by now, and is back to posting like normal. And then there’s PPG. Complete silence so we’re all suspended in ambiguity, with somewhat normal posting, but an obvious fear of backlash (considering the recently deleted posts). Their cowardice is astounding. I’m choosing to believe that based on their 6/29 statement & the circumstantial evidence since then that they’re pursuing some kind of litigation that’s advised them to stay quiet. From a PR perspective, I can see how it might be one of the smartest moves they can make in order to protect themselves (esp since they’re rival is still ready to bury them at a moment’s notice). But the scale and length of the boycott no longer make their silence an acceptable strategy imo. PPG’s caution is coming at the expense of players’ patience. Old players are leaving. Not enough new players are downloading the game to fill in the gaps (they were already down an avg of 34% month to month compared to last year. July downloads dropped another 25% from that). They’re the laughing stock of the industry amongst their peers & players. Their revenue is a third of what it was before. I think PPG wants Valko supporters around (otherwise they would’ve doubled down on his cancellation like PS did). But stringing us along hasn’t lead to an increase in revenue or meaningful recovery, so what are they doing it for? My current (optimistic) theory is that they need us to stay to give Valko an audience to receive him. But that audience is dwindling more every day. With every post that isn’t Valko, they lose more followers. Their engagement & reach is a fraction of what they used to get. They’re getting ratio’d on nearly every post. The call-outs for their lack of professionalism have reached fucking LinkedIn. I do think they’ll bring Valko back. There are too many things that point towards it as an obvious conclusion, imo. The problem is when and how. Players won’t wait forever, & releasing a new multi w/o Valko or some kind of statement will burn a lot of them. PPG risks permanently losing a lot of ppl who’ve waited months but were still willing to give them a chance and go back. Most companies would kill for that kind of loyalty, but PPG seems radically indifferent towards it, despite actively fostering an often obsessive & parasocial fanbase. But still, I can’t help but think they’ll post a multi anyway. One final ‘test’ to protect themselves against any possible backlash or litigation to prove they’ve done everything they can, but the only way to keep the game alive without massively downscaling operations is by reinstating Valko. But while they test us over and over & we make the banners flop, they’re prioritizing their own self-preservation at the expense of their revenue, reputation, player satisfaction, & professional standing. Part of me completely understands why they’re doing what they’re doing, but part of me still resents it all anyway. Putting the business hat on, it all makes sense. But if I take it off, I still think their treatment is unprofessional & disrespectful towards players. I just want to play with a product that was promised to me. It’s kind of funny how Valko’s cancellation ended up making him the center of basically everything related to Lads. The more people try to frame him as irrelevant, the more his presence gets attached to everything, and that’s going to continue whether he returns or not. If he comes back, everything will become a discussion: whether he sells well, whether he’s popular, whether he’s controversial, how he fits into the story, yada yada.
