Meet the Disruptors 60, Class of 2026.
⠀
Sixty AI startups, unveiled today live on stage at @TechCrunch Disrupt. Together they've raised nearly $6B, and most are less than three years old.
⠀
Congratulations to every founder, dreamer, and builder on the list. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey #Disruptors60
Big News - Code Metal has been named to the 2026 @TechCrunch Disrupt / @GreenfieldVC#Disruptors60! 🎉
Our mission is to make AI trustworthy for systems that can't fail. Whether it's modernizing legacy software, optimizing code for new hardware, or moving prototypes into production, speed means nothing without trust.
Code Metal combines AI and formal methods to automate complex software engineering work, with independent verification that proves the code works as intended. Because when every line of code matters, "probably right" isn't good enough.
Proud to be in great company here alongside teams advancing AI where it matters the most. 🚀 Check out the full list here 👉️ ordnl.link/v4qFvHg
PS - thank you to @Nasdaq for helping us celebrate 🤩
What gets lost when AI is used in code translation?
AI translated code can compile successfully but still behave differently from the original. But in safety-critical environments, this behavioral gap is unacceptable - and can have serious consequences.
Our latest research blog post explores how defining good type mappings can close that gap, and how Code Metal approaches the problem from a formal methods perspective.

We received 5X as many submissions as we were anticipating, with applicants across 5 continents, 22 countries, and 74 institutions. The caliber of submissions and topics we received blew us away, across verified code translation, formal semantics, trustworthy optimization and hardware targeting, and so much more.
Thank you to everyone who submitted, we cannot wait to dig into the incredible work these teams put forward. A proud day to be a part of this community! ♥️
Winners will be announced in December - stay tuned!
Everyone is focused on making AI models faster. But the model isn’t always the bottleneck.
We found just 3 pieces of supporting code consuming ~20% of GPU time in an autonomous-driving LiDAR pipeline running on @nvidia Thor.
@Code_Metal_AI Metal optimized them in less than a day.
AI is making it easier than ever to write code. The NEXT frontier and harder problem is making sure that code actually performs on the hardware it runs on.
That’s the Code-to-Metal gap. And it’s everywhere
In AI performance, most of the optimization effort goes to the model. But in a real product, the model is surrounded by supporting code that runs alongside it on every frame – often left exactly as it was first written, with inefficiencies that can slow the whole system down, use
See the #CodeMetal platform in action. Self-driving cars use LiDAR to spot objects in real time. On NVIDIA's latest hardware, we found that a few pieces of custom GPU code were taking up about a fifth of the processing time.

Another great panel today at SPLASH/ISSTA in Oakland!
Our Director of Formal Methods @laura_titolo will be speaking with peers from Meta, Amazon, Purdue University and more about the future of static analysis - where it's headed, emerging trends, and the key challenges being tackled.

In AI performance, most of the optimization effort goes to the model. But in a real product, the model is surrounded by supporting code that runs alongside it on every frame – often left exactly as it was first written, with inefficiencies that can slow the whole system down, use excessive compute, and drive up costs.
We saw this in an open-source LiDAR perception pipeline running on @nvidia Thor hardware. Three custom CUDA kernels accounted for ~20% of GPU kernel time.
We optimized them with Code Metal in less than a day. Full results coming soon 😎

Our research team is on a roll! Next week our Director of Formal Methods @laura_titolo will deliver a keynote at the 11th ACM SIGPLAN International Workshop on Numerical and Symbolic Abstract Domains (NSAD 2026), co-located with SPLASH/ISSTA.
Her talk, “Numerical Abstract Domains for Trustworthy Code Transpilation,” explores an important challenge for AI-driven code transformation: how do we ensure that numerical behavior is preserved when code moves across languages, compilers, and hardware?
The keynote will connect decades of research in numerical abstract domains with LLM-based code transpilation, showing how static analysis can help assess and guide transformations while providing evidence that the resulting code meets its accuracy requirements.
Hope to see you there! Full program here 👉️ ordnl.link/pSMorlD#SPLASH#ISSTA
Heading to Automotive Software Strategies US 2026 conference in San Jose this November?
Our Principal Research Scientist Dr. Samson Melamed will be taking the stage on 11/3 to speak about how Code Metal's verifiable code translation pipelines are helping the automotive industry shift left through automated test generation 🚗 ⬅️

AI can provide evidence to support an answer. But do you have the expertise to evaluate it?
That question gets harder when you're an engineer whose work crosses disciplines. An algorithm developer making hardware decisions may need more context than AI’s explanation provides.
Here's our CEO and co-founder @petermoralesX explaining how we approach that balance with Arkaea Media at the @NYSE.
Working on formal methods, program equivalence, or verification? We want to celebrate your research and support what’s next 🚀
University faculty: apply for one of four Code Metal research awards of up to $40K each by Oct. 8.

As the AI slowdown debate grows, we are seeing more demand from industries where software errors have serious consequences.
We’re helping teams across defense, finance, and automotive understand where human judgment matters, how AI fits their systems, and automate code translation and verification - and using formal verification to prove it.
Thanks to Aaron Mok at @inc for chatting with our CEO
@PeterMoralesX for this one!
