One thing that really haunts me about the Lindsay Clancy trial is that she was an L&D nurse. She knew all about PPD and PPP. She knew the symptoms, the treatments, and how the medications worked. She wasn’t some naive young mom who didn’t understand what signs to look for. But what really bothers me, is that as an RN she knew many far less cruel ways to do what she did to her kids. She could have chosen a painless way. A fast way. Instead, she picked one of the most personal, hands-on, violent, and painful methods to slowly kill each child in front of the other, one by one. That really, really bothers me.

Psychosis or mania caused by SSRIs: 2% of patients Postpartum psychosis: >1% of new mothers Postpartum psychosis after week 2 of birth: >.04% of new mothers Postpartum depression 8-10 months after birth: 7% of women One single instance of a command hallucination: So rare that there is not a percentage Statistically improbable.

Little noticed fact about the Clancy trial: Patrick, before leaving to CVS and Three V, came up, played with the babies a little. Said, "I'll be right back." The last thing he said he saw was Lindsay standing by the door that lead to the basement, holding Callan. She was waiting.
