Never in my 20 years in SEO and thousands of websites have I saw a result like this from optimizing only meta descriptions. Sure updating a page in itself will give it a temporal boost across keywords but you can’t catch more keywords with a meta description when it’s used for essentially display purposes in Google SERPs. I’m happy to be proven wrong of course but you have a potential bomb on your hands because it would be proof Google has been lying all these years about meta tags.
