Collective Intelligence is publishing a series of short pieces by editors recommending interesting recent reading, articles, books etc - here is one from Geoff Mulgan: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/26…
This is a great interview. Some excerpts.
Ball: I don't see how we can hope to find a 'program' that specifies the organism... It's hard to find a good analogy for talking about the genome, we don't know anything quite like it. But 'blueprint' is not a good metaphor any longer.
A subtle analysis of the complex influence of individuals in relation to team performance, using a novel measurement tool & finding interesting patterns (such as that speaking a lot doesn’t translate into objective influence). journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/26…
Some reviews and commentary on recent books about collective intelligence - from animals to democracy: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/26…… Please let us know of other relevant books of interest to the CI community that we should be covering.

An interesting new @Collective_CI paper examining different methods for aggregating individual choices into group ones, including some novel methods. This is a crucial part of the evolving science of collective intelligence.journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/26…
A new CI paper using a model based on a cooperation game with coordination failure 'a simple version of an empirically observed condition of flummoxed coordination in human societies: polarization, free-riding, and infrastructure disintegration' journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/26…
A new paper by Yen-Sheng Chiang, Heng-Chin Cho, and Chia-Jung Chang, showing the advantages of self-organising teams and networks in solving problems journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/26…
A UK parliamentary committee is interested in the best examples worldwide of parliaments using collective intelligence methods to crowdsource facts, ideas, evidence, experiences and questions. All examples welcome!
This new paper shows how collective intelligence methods can be used to tackle environmental challenges - in this case greenhouse gas removal journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/26…
A new draft paper proposing a theory of collective stupidity, from Geoff Mulgan (to be discussed at next weeks Collective Intelligence conference in Boston): geoffmulgan.com/post/a-theory-…
"Algorithmically Mediating Communication to Enhance Collective Decision-Making in Online Social Networks" is out @Collective_CI journal: journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11… joint work with @jason_w_burton @amaatouq Ulrike Hahn, building on earlier results in @ci_acm 2021
New paper on indigenous knowledge and collective intelligence - a field that's attracting lots of interest at the moment journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/26…
In a new work, @wschuell1 and I model functionality of #Rust libraries in terms of active devs and upstream dependencies. When a key dev leaves, errors can spread far in the dep network. Considering both social and tech factors gives new insight into risks:bit.ly/3w00M6q
