💚 🩷 𝗥𝗘𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗙𝗬 💚 🩷 For all Wicked Fans - it is going to be a big weekend!✨ With 𝙒𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙙: 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙂𝙤𝙤𝙙 landing in cinemas on 21 November, it feels like the right time to celebrate one of the quiet stars of the Wicked universe: its made-up language. From 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 to 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀, Ozian words look playful, but they are carefully engineered. The writers build them by stretching familiar English roots and endings so they sit on the edge of nonsense while still being instantly understandable. Everyday language works in much the same way. New blends appear (“parasocial” is a trending word of 2025), older words quietly change meaning (did you know that “awful” used to literally mean “full of awe”, as in something amazing), and different groups develop their own small dialects. Language is as fluid and changing as the people who use it.
