Her name was Federica Coviello, a 51-year-old Italian woman. A Tunisian immigrant was thrown out of a bar after arguing aggressively with the owner. In retaliation, he got into his car and deliberately drove at high speed into the outdoor tables. He slammed directly into Federica and her partner. The man suffered serious leg injuries but survived. Federica was rushed to hospital, where she had one leg amputated. But after more than two weeks of agony, she died. Irish Taxi Driver Who Sexually Assaulted 14-Year-Old Schoolgirl in Scotland Walks Free From Court. Farrukh Naseem Butt, 45, an Irish national (as confirmed by his Companies House records) and private hire taxi driver from East Kilbride, Glasgow, has walked free from court after sexually assaulting a 14-year-old schoolgirl. Butt picked up the teenager from a friend’s house in Edinburgh in the early hours of 16 February last year and was driving her home to Midlothian when he diverted into a supermarket car park and assaulted her. At Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, Sheriff Douglas Kier described the offence as serious but chose a direct alternative to custody. The sheriff told Butt: "You have been found guilty of a serious sexual offence against a 14-year-old girl who had placed her trust in you as a private hire driver. You took advantage of that position of trust and you exploited her vulnerability for your own personal gratification." Butt was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid community work, placed on a three-year supervision order, and added to the Sex Offenders Register for three years. He must also attend a sex offenders rehabilitation programme and is banned from contacting children under 16 or visiting play parks. His defence lawyer, Anna Kocela, said Butt is a first-time offender who is now unemployed, and that prison would leave his wife vulnerable while caring for their three children.
