Hearty congratulations to England on its greatest World Cup victory since 1966. Maybe even greater, since the task was tougher. Perhaps we may dare to hope football is ‘coming home’ after all. Even if not, nothing can detract from that defeat of Mexico on their hallowed home turf, with all the circumstances conspired in its favour.

Excellent sense from @DanielPriestley contradicting the usual garbage from Gary Stevenson: "Just 300,000 people (1 in 100) are paying a third of the taxes and 30,000 of them (1 in 1000) are paying 10% of the tax bill. In a country with 70M people a few football stadiums of hard working, responsible, enterprising people are paying disproportionate taxes and demonising them isn’t helpful or based on any accurate data".

Gary’s theory is that the cause of wealth inequality is wealth inequality. In his Oxford thesis he claims that wealthy people become rich, buy assets and then use their passive income to buy more and more assets. He also claims that the rich don’t pay taxes like the rest of us.

Look at this appalling state censorship. Labour now want to seize control of YouTube's algorithm. They want YouTube to artificially boost the BBC and Channel 4's content, and suffocate independent journalists and producers. The BBC has been biased to pro-mass migration, open borders, and Net Zero views these past few decades. It's part of the reason we're in a mess. The BBC's own internal reports admit and document some of this bias. People have moved to X and YouTube in part as a response to it. And now, Labour want to control what they see there? Reform will scrap this heavy handed lunacy.

People who want more nationalisation should look at the pot holed state of our roads. Fully nationalised there is too little road space. Users are ripped off with massive fuel taxes,Vehicle duty,high taxes on buying a new car,high parking charges in Council car parks.

Sean Coughlan, the MD of Coughlans Bakery, said he was “devastated” to announce the closure of the family business & blamed the rise in National Insurance costs and business rates which he said had “absolutely smashed” the company. Part owner of the business, comedian Romesh Ranganathan said he was “gutted”. Founded in 1937 by Jack and Elsie Coughlan, the company had grown to 31 stores across Kent, Surrey, West Sussex and south London. Now no more. Mr Coughlan, who noted that the rises in taxes, wages & fuel prices were costing the bakeries an additional £20,000 a week, said: “I don’t think the Government understands.."
