A neighborhood space designed for everyday play 🌳✨ North Karen Acres Park in Urbandale, Iowa features a thoughtfully designed playground that encourages active movement, social interaction, and outdoor fun close to home. At the heart of the space is a PrimeTime modular structure for ages 5–12, offering climbing, sliding, and opportunities for imaginative exploration. A new destination for inclusive play is coming to Overland Park! 🌳💚 Cunningham Recreation, in partnership with Blue Valley Recreation Commission and Variety KC, is excited to announce an upcoming all-inclusive playground designed to bring children and families of all abilities together through the power of play. This thoughtfully designed space will feature accessible play equipment, sensory-rich experiences, ground-level activities, inclusive swings, wide transfer systems, and carefully selected amenities that support physical, social, and cognitive development. With accessible pathways, welcoming gathering areas, and comfortable seating throughout, caregivers and families can stay connected and engaged every step of the way. Construction is expected to begin soon, with completion anticipated in Fall 2026, and excitement is already building for what will become one of the region’s premier inclusive play destinations. Because when barriers are removed, play becomes possible for everyone. 💙

Sometimes the best community moments are the simplest ones—meeting at the playground after school, taking a walk through the park, or spending time outdoors with friends and family.
