@Dartmoor_AC John spent £50 buying items for his insect collection to his wife’s frustration!
In 1810 John Cranch, a naturalist from Kingsbridge, paid 3 pounds to purchase a specimen of a “Cliefden nonpareil moth” from a collector in London. How he would have loved to have found one in Devon! They are lovely creatures.
And another one ..... my third Clifden Nonpareil of the autumn .... think we can assume it is a resident now in Exeter .....
