@omzidar It's better in Chicago than it was in DC, but sometimes we close early for a dusting and my only explanation is it's a chance to save $ (some staff salaried, some hourly). Sometimes we pay a teacher to come to our house for the hours they're closed, so...double cost!🫠

Someone in a Lincoln Park moms FB group said she can’t keep up with the ironing & asked if everyone else just sends their toddlers to daycare in wrinkles and I would like to respond with this picture of my daughter’s drawer. Like ma’am, I don’t even fold shit.

I really think a lot of people confuse "I'm not doing that b/c I'm setting boundaries" with "I'm not doing that b/c I am inflexible and unwilling to be the slightest bit overstretched to help someone else."

My daughter is learning to speak in two languages and I only know one of them. When I don't know what she's saying, I respond "wow, how cool" and now she's pointing at things like trash cans and going "wow, how cool."

Anyhow stupid Twitter disputes aside, formula is crazy expensive and kids shouldn't be punished b/c they weren't born into $$. All children deserve love and food and care. Thank you.

Like, I try to take my daughter to restaurants on the early end so she doesn't disrupt people, but if you're complaining about a kid listening to an ipad on a ✈️without headphones then I invite you to research noise-cancelling headphones for kids that actually work. They are $130

Being a parent has convinced me that kids are a truly marginalized group in 🇺🇸. They need adults to survive, but we refuse to guarantee them the basics (childcare, formula etc., health care) & we make it hard for even well-resourced parents to get these things on their behalf.

The baby accepts instant live video calls with her grandma on the box I keep in my purse as an ordinary, unspecial occurrence. But I got her light-up rain boots & she thinks they are possessed by the devil. She runs screaming, "What the boot? Why the boot? No boot!"
