I love how FIFA uses VAR to overturn organically won goals just because some tangentially involved player took a dive…
But completely misses it when the ball literally hits a camera cable in the course of play.
Truly a joke of a system.
England player clearly took a dive. Haaland’s push was nothing out of the ordinary for what I’ve seen this whole World Cup on corners. I have absolutely no idea what these people are thinking.
@NCHammer1980@ssswong1@kneggpelskjeks You're right, it is different- one is an elbow to the brainstem of a player from behind, and the other is a light push on a player that was just tugging and pushing on you too, and was face to face with you
@NCHammer1980 The problem is the consistency of both calls on the field and selective implementation of VAR depending on which team would benefit.
Either both those shots are fouls, or neither are- but you can't disallow a goal off a flop and then not call an elbow to the brainstem
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
When Cape Verde started taking control, every major decision suddenly went Argentina’s way.
When Egypt looked ready to go three goals clear, the referee found a reason to wipe one off.
When Switzerland threatened to complete the turnaround, a Swiss player was conveniently sent off.
You can look away all you want, but the pattern is becoming impossible to ignore. The favouritism is glaring, and the stench of corruption is everywhere.
What has happened to football?
The biggest nations seem to be protected, while VAR is used to go back several phases of play to disallow goals scored by smaller nations. At the same time, incidents leading up to goals for the biggest teams are completely overlooked and not even reviewed by VAR.
When that happens, matches are no longer decided on the pitch. It damages the integrity of the game and undermines the values football is supposed to stand for.

I have to be honest: I can’t take this World Cup seriously anymore.
3 outcomes now directly impacted by very questionable VAR interventions.
Croatia, Egypt, and now Norway.
A goal taken away because VAR intervened over a dive, and a goal scored against them because a ball hit a cable and they didn’t.
As an impartial observer, the outcome no longer feels legitimate.
Este codazo de Konsa en el cuello de Berge es penalti siguiendo los criterios de antes.
Teniendo en cuenta la falta que le pitan a Haaland antes, esto tendría que haber sido penalti.
Imagine having the most lethal striker in soccer wide open and you look him off and refuse to pass it to him. This is one of the most egregious acts of selfishness that I've ever seen in sports.
I honestly have never seen a WC game where so many refereeing errors and of such atrocious nature favoured the same team. British goal illegal. Norwegian second goal was no foul but even if foul it was before play started so not a foul. Third, clear penalty for Norway not given
🚨🇳🇴 Dimitar Berbatov: “The Push Was Before The Corner Was Taken — Norway’s Goal Should Have Counted”
“I have watched the replay several times and I disagree with the decision.
The referee punished Erling Haaland for the push, but the problem is that the contact happened before the corner was even taken.
If we’re being consistent, you cannot go back and disallow a goal for something that occurred before the ball was in play. The restart had not happened yet.
Norway executed the corner, won the first contact and scored. For me, that goal should have stood.
Football is a game of moments and Norway had enough controversy to feel frustrated. First there was the debate over England’s equaliser, then there was this disallowed goal.
I understand why England are celebrating because they found a way to win, but if I were Norwegian, I would be asking serious questions about that decision.
Norway played with courage, they played without fear, and I think they can feel hard done by on that particular incident.
Sometimes a World Cup quarter-final is decided by tiny margins. This felt like one of those moments.”
