The voice behind Randy Marsh has sadly passed away. 🥹 Legendary voice actor Carlos del Campo has passed away at the age of 68. Best known for voicing C-3PO in the Latin American Spanish dub of Star Wars and Slinky in the Toy Story films, including Toy Story 4, del Campo also brought many beloved characters to life, including Gin Ichimaru in Bleach, Watari in Death Note, The Big Cheese in Samurai Pizza Cats, and Saga in Saint Seiya. He also voiced Randy Marsh in the Mexican Spanish dub of South Park during its early run. His remarkable talent and unforgettable performances will continue to live on through the many characters he brought to life. Rest in peace, Carlos del Campo. 🕊️

I was “black” when I read The Odyssey in high school... ...but somehow I never imagined the characters as looking like me. Why? Because they were GREEK characters. I didn’t need Odysseus to look like me to appreciate his story. I didn’t need Helen of Troy to look like me to understand her importance. They were Greek characters from a specific culture, with a specific history. And this is what Hollywood keeps getting wrong. We don’t identify with characters because they look like us. We connect with them because we recognize something human in them - their struggles, their courage, their flaws, their values. Odysseus is a GREEK hero. Helen of Troy is a GREEK woman. Their identities are part of what makes their stories meaningful. Casting Colombians and Africans and Indians as Greek ISN'T "representation." It’s just insulting. Stop it.

Today I learned that in Nolan’s movie "Odyssey," there is a line: "Sinon was the greatest warrior among the Greeks." Sinon is not mentioned in Homer at all, and in the film he is played by a woman. Now look at what’s happening. We Greeks are forced to listen to barbarians telling us that the movie is amazing, while watching our Greek civilization being mocked on screen, and being told that the greatest warrior of the Greeks is Sinon, played by a woman. In other words, we Greeks are forced to watch a film based on our own history and our ancestors, and if we disagree with what we see or get angry about it, then we are called racists and puppets of Elon Musk. That’s what they tell us. So from now on, the purpose of my life will be to turn as many people as possible against all those academics and classicists who supported this abomination, this thing that mocks Greek culture, takes the greatest and most important Greek epic poem, and turns it into a "fairy tale." No, it is not a fairy tale. It is our Greek history. They are our Greek ancestors. And we have every right to express our opinion, to demand proper representation in the casting, and to demand that Greek academics and historians oversee the script and the historical authenticity of films that exploit Greek civilization to make money in our name. Enough with the exploitation, the propaganda, and the distortion.
