This user has spent +$600 in one of our apps through weekly payments. They've forgotten about it and we even tried to contact them. I don't particularly like weekly payments because they also give you a dangerous dopamine hit as they inflate MRR like crazy, but cohort's LTV suffer. They are a good complement to yearly plans though and allow a lower entry point for all users.
I'd take a 23% install-to-paid ratio any day.
For context, I stopped the ad set with the higher budget and left the testing ad set untouched. Since then, the only thing I've done is to gradually increase the budget to see to what extent it holds. So far so good, but you never know.
Update on this. Had to cancel the experiment after 3 days. CPA was off the charts and without any recovery signal. Took the loss and moved on. A good side thing is that the new creatives I'm testing are printing with controlled spend. x.com/DanielEntrenas…

@shepherdoffat @carlmonkft There's no right answer to this. Taking into account that you ideally want to have 60-40 share in favour of annuals, play around with discounts and psychological tricks to make the yearly more appealing. Test, test, test is the only right answer here 🙌
@agenticaurelius @andrewxroas yeah, sometimes it's just the ads that don't resonate with the target audience. No matter how good your app is, if the ads are not capturing people's attention, you're cooked. Been there many times unfortunately T_T
@pcshipp High churn rate and low user retention is the definition of a mobile app. The only way to make it work is through yearly subscription plans that maximise user LTV combined with weekly or monthly, depending on the app.
At the beginning, there's a learning phase which is used to determine the most likely audience to convert. It needs 50 weekly events minimum, whatever that is. You don't need to "warm up" the account or anything. It all comes down to how good your ads are, your niche and the country you are targeting.
Probably not. With such a low ecpm the audience mix is likely from tier 2-3 countries and that won't improve it too much. If those 20K impressions came from US that would be a different conversation. Mediation is something you need to be on top of and it only makes sense when it really makes a difference. You don't move a finger for +$10 a month.

Since you won't bid more than X, you don't risk overspending a crazy amount. Early to tell, but so far so good.
100%. A good ad is a good ad just like a bad ad is a bad ad, no matter the event. The cheaper you know that, the better for sure. We used to filter promising ads based on cheap CPIs and then validating them against deeper funnel events like Start Trial or Subscribe. It's a way to kind of know how Meta's black box works.
I really need to step up my creatives game on Meta. We've reached a point where we can profitably spend around $40-$50K a month, but CPA suffers beyond that point. Time to lock in and come up with some strong concepts. Goal is to reach $100k MRR.
