Ambassador Vetter recieved Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid, Sudanese undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The meeting addressed the outcomes of the EU HoMs visit last June and the EU Council decisions on Sudan issued in October 2025.

Same goes for some groups on the Horn of Africa
I can understand why Sahelian governments refer to jihadists and other armed groups as "terrorists" but that's no reason for analysts to use the term. It reflects a bankrupt "natsec" ideology, has no analytical value, and obscures what these groups are and how they operate.

Sudan remains high on EU’s political agenda. At last week’s Berlin Conference, €1.5 billion was pledged for Sudan & the region, over half from Team Europe. Sudan needs a ceasefire, the protection of civilians, an arms embargo & ultimately peace with accountability.

The deadly attack by the Rapid Support Forces on a health centre in Kadugli, #Sudan is a clear violation of international humanitarian law. Civilians, including children, reportedly lost their life. The EU will not stay silent in the face of such atrocities against civilians.
The hundreds of notices of missing people since the takeover of El Fasher are appalling. A largely overlooked machinery of disappearance has taken hold in the post-takeover. Thousands remain unaccounted for. In parallel, a new detention apparatus is operating.
