@m477lander@That_Girl_Mal@fomo@Pumpfun That’s the real test of self-custody. The app should be replaceable, the company can disappear, but your ability to recover and move your assets shouldn’t disappear with them.
@GhostedEthh@m477lander@fomo@Pumpfun Exactly. Better UX should remove the friction, not remove the ownership. If I’m self-custodying, I want the keys to actually stay mine.
@code_orton@m477lander@fomo@Pumpfun Exactly. UX isn’t really better if we just hide the same friction behind a prettier interface. The real upgrade is making the complexity disappear without giving up ownership or control.
@_Bear_Charlie_@m477lander@fomo@Pumpfun The UX can evolve, but ownership shouldn’t. Give me Apple Pay-level simplicity without handing the keys to Google, Apple, or anyone else. Self-custody still matters.
@Angelinafly02@m477lander@fomo@Pumpfun Exactly. The UX can be invisible, but the recovery assumptions can’t be.
If the underlying signer is still fragile, hiding the bridge just makes the failure harder to understand. The real upgrade is making recovery and ownership portable without dumping the complexity on the user
@josh2365@m477lander@fomo@Pumpfun Yeah, that’s the sweet spot. Users shouldn’t have to understand the rails to use them, but they should always know what they own and stay in control of it.
@DanielM_OnX@m477lander@fomo@Pumpfun Exactly this. If the user has to think about bridges, chains, gas and all the stuff happening under the hood, the UX is already doing too much.
Keep the ownership with the user, hide the complexity, and just let people use the product.
@hannahleighvick@m477lander@fomo@Pumpfun Exactly. Better UX shouldn’t mean giving up the core values that made Web3 different in the first place. If users lose control of their identity and assets, we’re basically rebuilding Web2 with a blockchain sticker.
That's the key insight. Web3's real upgrade isn't hiding ownership it's hiding complexity. A wallet that abstracts away chains, gas fees, bridges, and routing while still keeping users in full control of their assets is the direction this needs to go.
I've spent the last few years betting that the wallet becomes the whole trading app,, so "Web3 is dead" is where you lose me.
@fomo and @Pumpfun nailed the product loop; see it, buy it, never leave the app. that's a product win. It doesn't mean the old distribution playbook is
