I’ve never “been complicit in killing children.” In 2014-2015 I did some contract illustrations for Boeing. Color drawings of concept hardware for internal use. Military-adjacent, yes, and it was the main reason I left the industry. ⬇️

@Oktolyn This is burying the lede in an extremely unproductive way. Pointing at uses that much more common, efficient, purpose-built machine learning tools have as "look AI CAN be good" only legitimizes the generalized generative models that people ACTUALLY have a problem with.

@_Flamsey The reason you cannot name a folder "CON", "PRN", or "NUL", is because those names are hard coded for Hardware in MS-DOS and vital for some old device drivers. There's literally lines of code in current versions of Windows to SPECIFICALLY make sure LEGO ISLAND still functions.

@_Flamsey If Windows is actually genuinely good for ONE THING and that one thing only, it's backwards compatibility. There are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of lines of code in the OS just to act as contingencies for things like old API calls that no longer exist.
