@SpencerWall509 You didn’t say that you would watch over yourself. You said “it could happen to me”. “It” doesn’t happen to you. You choose to do it. You admitted that you might choose to do it, which would be the opposite of watching over yourself.

@FrankLets78822 The only time shepherd is a noun is in Eph 4 along with apostle, prophet, evangelist and teacher. The other instances it is a verb - something elders are to do and, as you say, something anyone can do. So why is pastor an office if the other Eph 4 nouns are not?

@FrankLets78822 I ask why you treat shepherding differently from teaching. Elders are to shepherd and teach. Eph 4 tells us that there are shepherds & teachers. If you agree that every teacher is not an elder, why do you conclude that every shepherd is an elder and that only elders are shepherd?

@FrankLets78822 The NT never identifies a specific person as pastor - not even Timothy. Pastor is used like teacher. People teach and people pastor. Elders are to do both . Some people are recognized as teachers or pastors (or evangelists etc). But why would every teacher or pastor be an elder?

@JoshAshwor32068 @osucowboytc Ephesians 4 tells us that we should have, not only pastors, but apostles, prophets, evangelists and teachers. It does not require any of those ministries to be elders nor does it restrict those ministries to elders.

@FrankLets78822 The former. Pastor is a ministry - a service to the church with the specific goal of equipping the saints for ministry. Everyone should shepherd (just as everyone should teach) but there are some who are gifted and recognized as pastors and teachers, although they are not elders.

@FrankLets78822 Connecting dies not mean equating. Titus 1:5-7 dies not even connect them. None of these passages say that elders are the only ones allowed to shepherd, Indeed none of them suggest that the ministry of shepherding is an “office” (whatever is meant by that term).

@megbasham Last night the Holy Spirit came upon hundreds of delegates at the General Assembly of the Alliance Canada. Many were prayed for by both men and women. The sermon was rooted in Scripture and delivered by a woman. The authority was in the Scripture, not the speaker but God used her

@ULookRight @jackngraham Megan, get creative. There are other solutions. Every one of our churches has a “report abuse” option on their website. Hopefully it will never need to be used, but it communicates loudly and clearly that abuse is not welcome in our churches. Why don’t you advocate for that?
