It’s indeed a pandemic - staff infidelity 🥹

We captured this beautiful moment as Egejurum Onyedikachi and Don-Anele Munachimso arrived at Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, yesterday to a true hero's welcome. These are not football stars. They are not musicians. They are not politicians. They are children. Children who became the world's best in Mathematics in the Primary and Senior categories. Don-Anele Munachimso is also the world's best in Science. The last literary figures from the South East to receive this kind of heroic public welcome were Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Watching our brightest young minds being celebrated like national heroes gives me hope. For too long, we have celebrated almost everything except academic excellence. That is beginning to change. Education is reclaiming its rightful place in our society, and a generation of children is growing up believing that knowledge, hard work and excellence deserve standing ovations too. This is bigger than two children. This is the beginning of a movement.

We will be closing registration for the 2027 South East Maths Olympiad on September 30, 2026. No other registrations will be accepted after the date above. We currently have 32,738 students registered. Anambra State currently has the lowest registration so far. The registration link remains: semo.educare.school/admission-form We will also be introducing the South East Science Olympiad in 2027 and one registration covers both competitions. I’m worried about the current gap in science among our children, and we will urgently need to fix it. Maths will be compulsory for everyone, while Science will be optional. However, the prize money will be split across both. A student is allowed to win both Maths and Science. Only the winners of Maths will represent us at the global stage in Lisbon, Portugal in 2027. We will also be sharing a new curriculum based on high-order thinking and pure application.

After winning Gold in Mathematics, Don-Anele Munachimso went on to win another Gold in Science, emerging as the World’s Best in Science at the International STEM Olympiad in Rome, Italy. Already celebrated as the Best in IGCSE Chemistry in Nigeria. This is a proud moment for southeast and a powerful reminder that investing in young minds always pays off.

Onyedikachi Egejurum got a Gold. He is the best in Mathematics in the world Primary Category. This is the beginning of greatness for the country.

Ironically, this heated "Olodo Uprising" conversation is actually a good sign for Nigeria. Nigeria is finally having its first endogenous, organically-defined culture war over an issue that is intrinsically important to Nigerian society. Every other culture war that post-colonial Nigeria has fought until now has been imported Yankee slop, or imported religious slop, or both (LGBTQ, 3rd wave Feminism, "sexual liberation", tithing, NYSC hijab, etc). A society fighting internal culture wars over its own self-defined issues is a society that is finally obtaining an identity of its own. Long may the war continue, and may the olodos suffer crushing defeat that dooms their uprising to the chapters of a Jude Bela historical documentary released in 2045.

In your mother's poverty, she sold akara to give you an education. You work with the Presidency in 2026, but your brain has atrophied from lack of use. Instead of implementing policies that give the Nigerian child a better childhood than you had, you are asking people to fry akara in 2026 and return to your mother's poverty.

I’m genuinely happy I stayed away from this app when I started my journey because this place could easily make you feel like you’re not doing enough. A lot of people here only post wins, money screenshots, big clients, and “motion.” Nobody really talks about the rejection emails, failed pitches, confusion, burnout, or how shallow the gold rush can actually feel sometimes. So seeing content like this? I really fuck with it. It keeps people grounded in reality and removes unnecessary pressure from newbies trying to figure life out. When I said I made $15k in my first year, I wasn’t just shouting money online. At the same time, I was actively teaching people for free while I was still figuring things out myself. The reason I could help other people start making money too was because I stayed realistic. When I entered the X tech space, I noticed a lot of people were following nonsense advice, copying everybody blindly, chasing aesthetics over opportunities, and positioning themselves badly. So while I was learning and getting opportunities myself, I started sharing everything: • how I pitched • how I positioned myself • the opportunities I found • the mistakes I made • the rejections I got • what was actually working in real time I wasn’t just posting money. I was helping people understand the process behind it. And honestly, I think that changed a lot for African tech Twitter, especially around 2024. More people started building in public properly, sharing realistic journeys, helping newbies, and focusing more on opportunities than clout. One thing I’ll always say is: please do not copy me completely. Take advice, learn principles, but build a life that works for YOU. Some of you live alone. Some of you pay rent. Some of you carry family responsibilities. Some of you cannot afford to gamble for months. Your decisions cannot look exactly like mine. A lot of people online sell one template for success without context, and that can genuinely mess people up mentally. This is why realistic content matters. You need to consume both the wins and the losses so you stay sane, stay grounded, and understand that rejection does not mean you are not good enough.
