Been up since 3:30 this morning studying for my Administration class. I need more hours in the day!
Having all the staff over for an end of year "Thank you" party this afternoon. After all, it takes all of us to improve the Deaf program.
The sad thing about working with lower income Deaf kids is that they have no Internet - which means they can't get video relay service
Still trying to join the Cal-Ed - California Educators of the Deaf, and still can't even figure out how to contact them.
Was talking with an Administrator today who talked to me about possibly becoming the Special Ed coordinator next year. Cool!
Just started playing with Deafed.info.... But also need to teach, plan summer school and work on my admin classes... Might take a while!
Check out "The Mask of Benevolance" by Harlan Lane - a history of the Deaf in the U.S. - a great read and a real eye opener
Who would have guessed it would be so tough to join CAL-ED - the California Deaf Educators Association.... Their website doesn't quite work.
I'd love to work in a top 1000 school, but Deaf kids in "lower schools" need help even more, and when I get my Admin credential - they will!
I was looking online at the top 1,000 schools in the U.S. this morning. The one I visited last week was near number 100
IEP coming up - only a few left this year, but we're squeezing them all in before the end of school.
Visited an excellent school for the Deaf program yesterday, and am feeling inspired - great Deaf Ed is possible!
