@ciphergoth @veorq I'm watching "provably secure" systems get churned out, the proofs have no value, the security definitions are dire, it's a shame. I'd have previously agreed, "being provably secure is better," no longer, the bar needs raising. (Unsure how.)

@ciphergoth @veorq I'm questioning value of proofs and security definitions. Consensus on definitions is necessary, proofs need to be checked (ideally by machine). Sure, definitions for primitives are established, but what about higher-level security properties? And who's checking proofs?

@ciphergoth @veorq I've written (probably) hundreds of pages of proof, IND-CPA, IND-1-CPA, IND-CCA, ... they're well established, there are good encryption schemes, Protocols are more problematic, e.g., what's a good definition of ballot secrecy (which we'll reduce to NM-CPA of ElGamal plus ZKP)
